My name is Marguerita Morton and I came to Tunbridge Wells as an 11 year old from Hong Kong and have lived in Tunbridge Wells for 41 years.  My daughter attended Claremont CP School and Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar School.  It is crucially important to me that young people get the best education available from the very start.

I became an active member of the Liberal Democrat party
since 2003 when I was first elected as a Town Councillor for Southborough and re-elected in 2007.  I just feel that being a Councillor, I can help to contribute to the local community of St.John’s which has been a large part of my life.

I want to represent all the people of this ward which I love because I am passionate about improving the lives of all residents and I want to challenge the Conservative lack of transparency and improve amenities despite cuts to government funding.  I want to promote safe cycling in residential zones in the interests of improving road safety;  introduce a 20 mph limit on residential  roads, cut down on dangerous air pollution and preserve the local environment, in particular open and green spaces so everyone can enjoy a healthy and rewarding life.
