May Newsletter

Dear Members

Following government announcements please find below our latest local news round up.
Garden Waste collections: These restart on your normal collection day during the week beginning 18th May. The system had to be suspended due to staff shortages due to Covid-19. Please only put one bin out as TWBC has said it does not have the capacity to take extra waste away as the service restarts. Further details can be found here.
Council crowdfunding: TWBC has set up a crowdfunding campaign to support 3 local charities: Nourish food bank, Mental Health Resource and Age UK. If you would like to donate to the campaign you can do so via the Lend a Hand page here.
Call me an optimist: To read about the 5 good things that we hope will come out this tragic Coronavirus pandemic, see Cllr. Ben Chapelard’s recent article published in the Times of Tunbridge Wells. We and our Lib Dem colleagues are working with TWBC & Kent County Council (KCC) to increase space for pedestrians and cyclists and support social distancing. North Farm tip: This is due to re-open on Friday 15th May. Access will be by pre-booked appointments only. Bookings open from 11 AM on Wednesday 13th May. Please find all the details on the KCC website here.  TW Social: If you need some inspiration and ideas to get you through this difficult period then take a look at the council’s twsocial.co.uk site. There are some famous contributors too.
We will get through this, please stay strong and stay safe.  We look forward to seeing you soon!
Best wishes,
Marguerita Morton, Peter Lidstone, Mark Ellis
